Where I stayed
I took a class field trip to an Olive Oil "Resort." They have a name for vineyards, but what do you call a place that grows and manufactures olive oil? I have no idea so I'm sticking with resort.
The scenery was gorgeous. Walking through the Olive groves was so peaceful. Birds were chirping. The Sun was shining. It was so serene.
Tasting authentic and fresh Olive Oil was a different story. You could tell right away by the smell that it was going to taste.... different. It smelled like fresh cut grass. And how did it taste? You guessed it! Just like grass. Not my cup of tea- or should I say oil. What's funny is that they also gave us an oil to try that was considered "defective" by their standards. Guess what... that's the kind of olive oil we are so accustomed to tasting in the good 'ol U.S. of A! She inadvertently kept insulting us and our tastebuds. No hard feelings. I'm sure if I grew up with Italian Olive Oil, my taste buds wouldn't reject the taste, nor would they like "defective" tasting Olive Oil.
I also have no note how gorgeous the surrounding fall countryside looked- it was stunning. I wanted to stop the bus and fill up my memory card with pictures ( sadly I didn't even get one :( )
