Our hotel find in Brooks was a gem...2 fireplaces, 2 TV's, Wifi, breakfast included, and a kitchen...and we were just expecting a regular hotel room. And the staff is great...and gives us homemade cookies as well. And this morning we headed to the Dinosaur Provincial Park, a world class dinosaur resting place for 38 different dinosaur species. As you approach park the prairie grasslands suddenly dropped off, leaving us in a whole other world of hoodoos, pinnacles, coulees and buttes. We could only imagine how the pioneers who visited these badlands for the first time must have thought. No wonder they described this place as "badlands." If you will click on the video (Overview), you will get a 360° idea of this place. Then to think 75 million years ago this near desert was then a subtropical damp terrain with giant lizards and other strange species roaming about...and today, we are walking on the same land. This is almost mind blowing...enough to make you realize what an amazing history our earth has experienced.
