Skip was up early and out the door by about 6:00 am. I slept until about 8:00, and read the Pantagraph on line until about 9:30 when I got ready and took a cart to the Gold Course for my 10:15 tee time. Hit some balls and headed to the tee where I met Patrick and Zack who played along with me, or should I say put up with me all day. The two guys were recent grads of ASU's law school and Patrick already had a job actually working with a firm that helped State Farm defend lawsuits. Zach hasn't determined what he wants to do.

Both the guys could beat the living daylights out of the ball. They both hit from the tips (about 7400 yards) while I hit from the one-ups (6800 yards). Patrick shot 36 and Zach 39 on the front nine. I didn't fare that well. Worst I've played all week. Total was above 90...a fact of which I am not proud, but it is what it is!

We sailed along for the first 5 holes until we caught up with the tail end of Jr. tournament. They took sooooo long to finish their round. Not their fault I played so poorly, but I can blame that, can't I???

The boys I played with were good kids. Had a drink in the bar afterwards (boy I needed it after that round). And then headed back to the hotel to blog a bit.

Skip got back about 4:30 and watched tv while I finished my blog from yesterday.

About 6:00 pm we met some of his team at the bar and headed to an Italian restaurant. I rode with one of Skip's teammates, Don and Natalie. Nice older couple from Chicago. As we entered the restuarant, an elderly couple was coming out and the man with a cane fell. Skip jumped to the rescue and helped the elderly man. We got him some water and waited until the ambulance got there. Nice work Mr. Good Samaritan Skip!

Dinner was excellent, and even though I had Italian last night, I had the Fettucene Alfredo that was simply outstanding. I met one of Skip's teammates, who was a parmacist and whose girl friend was in pharmacy school with my niece, Erika...in fact, they were in the same sorority. They know each other. Small world.

After dinner I went to the restroom, which must have been a mistake because Don and Natalie left me at the restaurant. Say what???? OK, I called a cab and made it back home in half an hour or so. I will give them the benefit of the doubt...they must have thought I went with Skip and some of his other teammates...but Judas Preist, wouldn't you at least ask??? Whatever.

Back at the hotel and blogged a bit before hitting the hay. With regrets to Mr. Dickens, "It was the best of days (being here in Arizona)...it was the worst of days (playing so poorly and being left at a restaurant!)

Say goodnight Dave!
