I drove the six hours from Columbus to Bloomington easily...with a brief stop for gas and Sliders at White Castle just outside Indianapolis. Sandy hates them!
Home and unpacked and started thinking about the entire trip. I HAVE NOW DOWNLOADED PICTURES FROM THIS TRIP, SO CHECK THEM OUT!

Home and unpacked and started thinking about the entire trip. I HAVE NOW DOWNLOADED PICTURES FROM THIS TRIP, SO CHECK THEM OUT!
During this trip, I:
- Drove more than 3700 miles
- Traveled in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ontario, New York, New Jersey, Conneticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington DC, West Virginia and Ohio (as far as I can tell).
- Visited 9 ballparks (three on my first trip)
- Visited some great eating and drinking establishments
- Renewed friendships in New York City, Boston, Pittsburgh and Ohio
- Met a lot of new friends like the folks in Toronto and the ones in Baltimore
- Best ballpark so far...tough one...many great ones out there including Cincy, Cleveland, Detroit, Mets, Boston, Phil and Pittsburgh, but strangely, I think I liked Camden Yards the best...almost 20 years old and still beautiful.
- Least favorite ballpark - Easy, Toronto (It's a stadium, not a ballpark)
- Best hotel - Besides the Elegant Simons Mansion, the Lovely Cotter Estate, the Beautfiul Remmers Manor or the Exquisite Lee Chateau, I would say the Holiday Inn across from Citi Field in NYC (Brooklyn), although the Hampton in Philly was nice too.
- Least Favroite Hotel - Days Inn Toronto
- Memories? Lots, but these three come to mind first...the trilogy of seeing Ground Zero, the demise of Usama Bin Ladin and the crowd chanting U-S-A, and my visit to the United Flight 93 Memorial, all in a two-week period of time. Very compelling!

Good to have you home, Dear!
My parents are real cute...
Good to see you made it home. Next time you make out to Pittsburgh you'll have to bring Sandy with you. Looking forward to seeing the other parks.
Thanks for your hospitality Alex!!! Good times with good friends! Dave
Laura, Mom is cute...I'm handsome...old, but handsome!!!! Love ya!!! Dad
This blog is awesome. Can't wait to read the rest of it. If you ever pass through Omaha, give me a call!
Quite a trip, Dave!
My only regret is that I caught up to yuor blog AFTER you were only miles away from being able to excurse yourself into New Hampshire for a few hours and bring back some REAL maple sirup for us flatlanders in Springfield.
Guess I'll have to get by on Funk's Grove for a while yet.

My son and I are working on the same thing - but a few stadiums at a time - have seen about half the stadiums so far. Just came back from a trip that got us to Detroit, Toronto, Boston, NY Mets and Baltimore. Stopped at the same White Castle in Indiana - had jalapeno cheese on them (yum).
Good stuff man!!! Great to hear you are enjoying the ballparks as much as I have...please keep me posted on the ones you liked best (and least!) Dave
