Early morning bus down from the mountians through verdant forest to the sweltering and humid plain where Tucuman is situated, surrounded by tobacco farms. Left my bag in the left luggage for the day and explored the old Colonial City (with many stops for sprite and water given it was in the high 30s and very humid). Night bus south to San Juan.
