I'm in the transit lounge in Muscat airport waiting for my connection to Lahore. Today is the 35th celebration of Oman's National Day, and there are drummers and dancers whirling through the aisles of the duty free and generally making a racket.

Only four more hours of this to sit through.

I'm considering moving to the small room designated for smokers as this is the only place where people are not smoking and is drum-free.

There are a lot of elderly Muslims awaiting connections after going on their pilgrimmage to Mecca. They may be old but they can still push their way to the front of the mad rush to get on the bus to the plane. I manage to kick a few walking sticks away in a vain attempt to save my place, but we all eventually make it on board.

Do you remember that American businessman who was arrested for getting drunk on a flight and taking a dump on the food trolley? I think I found the food trolley. They said it was fish, but I'm not so sure.

still moaning about food....
hmm, I hope you are not going to obsess about your food for the whole trip in a way reminiscent of your south america travels.....
anyway, glad to hear you are okay. I'm at home joyfully blasting the heating, full lighting and MTV base - I I'll keep you posted on the progress of the electricity bill ;-)
