We were awake at 6.30am, after a fairly good nights' sleep. We had breakfast and then did some googling to see where we would head.

We caught the shuttle bus back to the airport to pick up our hire car. We got the choice of either 2 Chevs, white or grey or a Ford Fusion in gunmetal grey. After checking out all the cars, the Ford had the better interior and looked better (no that is not a biased opinion). It only has just over 4000 miles on the clock, so I am sure that we can boost that up a bit.

We headed out and decided to check out an outlet shopping centre on the way down to Colorado Springs. We found some shirts and then went to use the Travelex card, which has our US money on it. The shop told us that the card had expired. We said, no, it had not expired and the expiry date on the card said 12/13, so we knew we were right.

We decided to ring the Travelex number on the back of the card and Darryl eventually spoke to someone who said that the card had expired, but we did in fact have money on the card. He said that he could transfer the money via Western Union, so we found the nearest Western Union office and then spent nearly 2 hours on the phone trying to sort it out. We eventually got some money and found out that we will have to do this every time we need money, as we can’t get a new card while we are here.

After all the hassle with the card, we finally headed back to Colorado Springs. It was storming the whole way and was a bit scary, but the traffic was travelling quite slowly, so not too bad.

We checked into a hotel and then found a place so we could have a calming drink or two and dinner. It is just down the street from the hotel and the food was really good. By the time we had finished dinner, the storm had passed and the sun had come out. Lovely views from our hotel balcony. We also met a couple of local girls, cross Pit Bull and American Staffy, who were 3 months old. Sooo cute!

Tomorrow, depending on the weather (storms are predicted), we are going to check out Pikes Peak.
