This morning we had a full english breakfast (without the black pudding, yuk!), although I only had eggs and bacon, Darryl had the lot. We decided to eat as much as we could so that we did not have to spend too much on food.

We headed into town and parked the car and then started to work out the map. Oh my god, the streets were so confusing. We eventually sort of worked it out and decided to start at the York Museum. Really great museum and what really amazed me was that the ruins of the old buildings are incorporated into the interior of the museum.

The streets were beautiful with old buildings everywhere. Had to imagine that all the modern shops are located within these old buildings.

We went to York Minster (church) and then to the Yorkshire museum which tells of York's medieval history. They had interactive displays, which told the stories of 4 different classes in the Roman times. There was also a genuine Roman mosiac floor.

The next museum was The York Castle Museum with over 400 years of York's past from Elizabethan soldiers to Victorian Debtors and Georgian dolls houses to the swinging sixties.

We then walked up the steps to Cliffords Tower. We had a scone and clotted cream and then had another walk through the streets and to the information centre to find out how to get to our accommodation for tonight, Tulip Inn - Burn Hall, York.

It was about a 20 minute drive from York, but it really lovely, with a nice atmosphere, large room and a bath. Oh how I have been wanting to soak in a bath, so I am going to make the most of this one.

We had dinner in the restaurant and are now back in the unit to sort out our bags so that we only need to bring out one or two bags from the car instead of all four.

Now to Google to see where we are headed tomorrow. Stay tuned!
