Today we left the Holiday Inn Express at Stansted and went back to the airport to collect the hire car.  After we figured out on the map we were, we headed off.

We had booked a room at the Windmill so headed north (or so we thought) to York. We were on the right number motorway, but we were going in the wrong direction. Boy, there are not too many exits on the A11.

Finally turned around and headed north at about 11.30am. We needed to get some washing done and everyone at the airport we asked about where a laundromat was, they all were very vague. We thought that we would find one somewhere in York.

We arrived in York, after missing most of the turn offs, we took the last one, which was exactly the right one for our hotel (we found out later).

We headed into York to find an information centre and spotted a laundromat along the way (1 problem solved).

We drove through the centre of the city, wow, that was fun, tight streets, people, double decker buses etc all trying to get through the streets.

We found a car park near Clifford Tower and then walked through York to find the information centre. As today has been a bit of a free day, we are going back to York tomorrow to explore some more. There will be some wonderful photos coming.

Had a quick look and then went to do some laundry and then headed to the hotel, so cute, photo to come tomorrow. Restul night tonight as we need an early night before midnight at least once a week. We are preparing for tomorrow and looking at how much we can see in York tomorrow.

Talk soon!

Dad on

Picked Jay up this morning, he is very tired so we gave him some breakfast and took him home. He said he enjoyed the experience and was impressed with all that he saw and did.

Anne & Ian on

We know exactly how you feel about the exits on the highways. We saw so many places we hadn't planned on seeing by missing the exits there. We loved York, thought it was a lovely town. The only trouble was the main street in the town had so many clocks, but all had a different time! So much to see & so little time. Have fun guys. xx
