After our night at the Opening ceremony, all we wanted to do was sleep, but that did not happen. Bolt awake at 7am so we decided to get going early and head into the city after breakfast.

We checked out the shopping centre that is near the main train station in Leipzig.

After that we decided to go out to the Trade Centre and check out the competition. All I
can say, is wow, that place is huge. We walked and walked and walked. We
visited all the skills that had an Aussie and then went to see what Jay was up
to.

The area the sheet metal guys have is quite large with their work areas and welding bays
lined up along 2 sides, so everyone can see them working. He was welding when
we arrived, with his back to us, but when he stopped welding, he spotted us and
waved. It is hard to tell how he is going, as everyone started on a different
part of the project, but he looked quite calm and relaxed (typical Jay).

By 3.30pm we had had enough of the crowds (it was school visit day and there were kids
everywhere) so headed back into town on the tram.

We had a rest in the centre of Leipzig, where they had set up a mini trade show with a
few stalls, food and entertainment. When we got there, there was a guy singing
Australian songs (Slim Dusty type songs) in English, but then when he finished
he spoke German. I was kind of weird. He was not really good.

After a long day we left at 7pm to find somewhere to eat and then headed back on the tram.
The jet lag was kicking in and we were both walking zombies.

Anne & Ian on

So pleased everything is going well. Glad you had a good flight, hope you get a good night's sleep tonight. What an experience for all of you. It looks like a beautiful town & the Trade Centre is so big!!! It must be hard for you see Jay & not be able to talk to him. The photos are great! look forward to following all your travels & we wish Jay well in the competition. Enjoy!

Lisa kept us up to date while we were there. Sounds like you are having a good but tiring time and yes it would be hard getting used to daylight a 10-00pm at night. We were hoping that Jay may have been lucky enough to win a medal but we are not too disappointed as we are sure he did his very best and we are so proud that he had the oportunity to compete and see so much of other Countries.
Have to talk about that other camera when you get home.
