Beautiful city. The most touristy I've been to yet but not a problem! I am in the ancient city of the Incas! Macchu Picchu is just over the hills and will visit via the train soon. Weather not so good today so sheltering inside with cable tv....hard life!
Plenty to see and do (when the weather's good) here so will use up my "boleto turistico" over the next few days or so visiting all the museums etc.
More soon,
Ciao
Update - hi there! Cusco turned out to be the place I have stayed the longest! Lots of sites both Inca and "Churchy" to do...all included in two tourist tickets mentioned earlier available from various spots around the city. Valid for ten days so that, coupled with an excellent visit to Machu Picchu just about touristed me out I'm afraid to say! Machu Picchu (MP) was great. Took a taxi from La plaza de Armas in Cusco to Ollantaytambo (forgive me if the spelling is wrong) and then caught the much fabled PeruRail train to Aquas Calientes to stay the night. Went with two very charming girls from Israel (you know who you are!) and got up at stupid oš clock the next day with a bus ride to the site itself using the Hiram Bingham pass. Got to MP by 6am and saw the site free of cloud which was good for photos! Entry was a bit steep (excuse the pun) but then cannot blame the Peruvians for cashing in i guess....
Had guinea pig in Cusco upon return...and...tastes like pork (strangely enough). Bought a warm cheap sleeping bag (no more sleeping in the middle - ask Norbert and Monica!) which was a lot better than buying it in the UK (sorry chaps!).
Weather was rain off and on as the "rainy" season had hit town...not a problem, reminded me of home and nice to have a change from sun all the time...don't you find? :)
Next stop Arequipa for Condors (hopefully!) and then push north for my flight!
