Attention all you sunday meeting 10 o'clockers! BE ASHAMED. Right now. Our meeting is at 8:30 in the mooornin! Honestly. I dont know how I got out of bed. Especially since Gladyce made us THE MOST AMAZING TEA EVER! That completely knocked me out the night before (who knooooow what she put in there) but anywhoooo.... I did it! With the help of a cold shower and hot coffee and ALMOJOBANOS! Yummeh. :-9 then we were on our way (running) to the kingdom hall x)
I GAVE MY FIRST LSP COMMENT!! woot woot! (pats self on shoulder) I really appreciated seeing everyone elses comments too. The sign language here is so different! Not so much in the individual signs, but in the way that they are signed... its much more slow, graceful and relaxed. When you sign here you take your time, you paint the picture,, you breathe! I like it so much better! Its definitely less stressful.
It was really interesting because instead of the public talk, we watched the David movie and a brother interpreted it into sign language on the stage. It was really good! And helped me with my spanish too because they had the volume up as well. Man when a brother gives a talk on the stage, he USES the stage, I mean, the ENTIRE STAGE! Its great! There is so much more “acting out” in the sign language here.
After the meeting we went to the store, bought some foods, and then went back home to help Isabel cook lunch. I get the feeling that they are into the whole “sunday's the big meal day” thing here. Its cute :).After lots of chopping, shredding, and chickin pickin' we at the most delicious meal I've had yet!! it was sooo gooooood! Chicken and rice with flavors galore, and salad in a leaf! It was so pretty. Afterwards we had carrot cake, fresh pineapple (best ive ever eaten) and coffee! I tell ya, its going to be so hard coming back to the states, back to bitter coffee, dull fruit and fast food. Yuck. Teehee.
Later on... we girls ventured out with martiiiin! Gladys's hilariously cute 15 year old son/our tour guide. He took us on a hike to a swimming pool/hole/lake in what felt like a JUNGLE at the edge of town. It was GORGEOUS! The water was super cold at first but we got used to it and it was so nice in the sun! It was a little awkward being the only 4 white girls in the pool, there were a lot of big guys with their arms crossed just STARING at us in our swimsuites (which were modest... but STILL) and at one point everyone got out of the pool except for me and Rae (we couldnt figure out wat was going on....) and then all the guys started cannonballin it into the pool totally aiming their splashes directly at us... they were literally trying to bomb us out of there!! so crazy! We couldnt help but laugh as (try as they might) we wouldnt budge. (or maybe they were flirting with us and who knows if we were encouraging them or not... ugh lol)
Climbing out of the pool was an adventure in itself ( we managed to get covered in mud...) so martin led us to a nearby tiny watering hole/creek fed by a SPRING!!!! it was BEAUTIFUL! Beautiful trees, crystal clear water, actual stone steps that led down to it... wow words cannot describe. It was awesome.
Then we pressed forward... hiking up and down tiny trails, through barbed wire fences, and taking many shortcuts, till we got to the place where many from the congregation were playing soccer. Martin played with them and us girls sunbathed/read books/hid under umbrella(bethyyyyy) until it started raining. RAINING??? you ask? Yes. It rained. So surprising! But it stayed pretty warm out and the raindrops were hecka FAT! It was great. Martin led us back to the house, but on the way we stopped and saw the protest road blockades... so many people!
