Our next stop on the train up t'North was to Phitsanulok!

Phitsanulok provided a logistical challenge and a very early morning the next day as we wanted to fit in the Sukothai historical park in the morning to bezz back to Phitsanulok to continue Northwards in the afternoon but feeling confident we decided to give it a shot! We stayed in our cheapest guesthouse yet at 100 baht a night and Paul decided to tell me it was probably the type of place that men brought women back to if you know what I mean! Grrreeeaaaaat! Infact it turned out to be absolutely fine apart from the fact that we had to break out the next morning as they'd pulled the shutters down overnight and we didn't have the key to get out! Very amusing and I was convinced the authorities would be catching up with us at some point!! Hee Hee! So far so good!

Had a great time here in the end - it was the healthiest town we've been to yet as there were joggers everywhere infact it was like being back at Loughborough again - we even saw school kids jogging in AV's! Spooky eh? There was a festival on as well so everything kicked off at night - the Thai are obsessed with having fairy lights everywhere so it looks very sparkly!

Anyway after a surprisingly nice sleep in the lovely 'London Hotel' we got up very early the next morning to get buses onto Sukothai. We arrived hitch free and hired bikes to take in the park spread over around 4km (a UNESCO heritage site indeed) and definitely worth making a trip to if you're in Thailand. Its basically lots of old ruins, temples and palaces set in beautiful gardens and lakes! Funnily enough we took lots of photos!!!

After a lovely morning we headed back to Phitsanulok and arrived in plenty of time to get our train up to Lampang...boring eh? No red and sweaty faces in sight!!!!
