As if the sky had fallen down it was very dark and lights were on everywhere. Papa and Oma had decided to take the scenic route to The Hague and this included a ferry trip over the New Waterway and we ended up where Papa was born, Maassluis. Then on through the polders via windmills and dykes, the back roads really, until we reached Voorburg.

First to the Van Der Marcktstraat number 7, where we lived. Next on to the Diaconnessenhuis (the hospital) where I was born. We went up via the stairs to the third floor and were able to see the canal from the window, just as when I was born, so I'm told. Then onto the centre of Voorburg where we parked next to the church and papa took me to the jeweller where he and mama had bought their wedding rings. Then onto the hall where they were married. A man suggested to Oma how to get in, so we walked up the alley and rang the bell, a lady took us to the wedding room and to the former bakery next door where pictures were taken. Lunch was taken at the local restaurant in the Main Street, de Herenstraat. We decided to go back to the jeweller and buy earrings for me and mum. Oma bought me these as a present and I shall wear them with my dress. Then on to the restaurant where the wedding reception was held in 1995, Vreugd en Rust, next to this place was a deer park and despite the rain I went to have a look. There were cute bunnies, goats, guinea-pigs, giant rabbits and sheep inside a farm building. Deer were outside in the rain. I stepped into the rabbit cage, picked one up, cuddled it, and put it back. Then the lady walked in and Papa asked if we could pick them up. She said no sorry you can't pick them up. Papa and I looked at each other and smiled. Hehe.
A quick drive to Scheveningen to see the Kurhaus hotel and it was nice that people who work there still recognised papa. The drive back I fell asleep in the car and we were home nice and fast that way.

Dinner was at Dorien's place and Marijke was also there. With oma they were the three ladies who had visited us in 2008. The turkey and sauce was the yummiest ever and I loved the house and the fireplace. Dorien let me put the logs on and she let me put pinecones on and they burn really well. Marijke made a really nice desert, apple, whipped sweet cream and custard. Delicious.

After dinner I go to walk her Newfoundland dog, a giant red fluffy dog, playful and he jumped on me a few times. Then home and I went straight to my bed. It was nice to have a look around today where my parents used to live, Voorburg.
