Today we decided to go shopping in the Kalversraat, to get there we cycled from the Prins Hendrik Kade through a snow-covered Amsterdam taking photos. It was cold and some of the snow had already turned to mush making my boots wet, giving me a great opportunity to get new ones that were waterproof. First stop was De Bijenkorf. A wonderful department store right in the centre and here after browsing through every floor we had some lunch. Dutch green pea soup for me and a pastrami sandwich for papa. Yummy! Then we crossed the Dam square where papa paused at the war memorial for a moment. We turned a corner into a pretty cool shopping street quite different from our shopping centres. We made a plan to first do all the stores on one side and the opposites side on the way back. This turned out to be really good as we could go back to some shops without having to walk down the whole street. Important when it is minus two degrees I tell you. Shoe stores about twelve of them. Clothes stores even more Jewellery stores and everywhere gloves scarves and hats we the most popular items sold. At Perrysport we bought some gloves made by a company called Bart's and papa just had to have some. I got the best furry gloves every to keep my paws warm. Then we cycled back home where we cooked some carrot soup. Belia arrived and a little later followed by her partner Sylvain, Reinie and Johan came home too and we then had a lovely evening together. Papa talked forever!!! but I could see he was enjoying himself. Belia is very pretty and it was really nice to meet such a lovely and interesting person. She is working on an exposé/ background story and we got the inside goss early on. She really knows her stuff. We talked the night away until the small hours and I got to bed pretty late. A great night I will always remember.
