After Oma went to her French conversation lesson, papa went to pay his respect at the war graves in Oostvoorne, expecting to see Australian Airmen but to find none were there which in a way is good news. We left after lunch in a clean car that papa washed. 1 hour later we arrived at the hotel in Tiel, we had a bit of a recki. Then on to Uncle Wouter's place where the whole family was super excited. They live in a really nice house with backyard, three storeys and a gezellig atmosphere, but most of all the young boys who were very excited as St Nick might pay them a visit. After a nice lasagna we were relaxing when suddenly the house started shaking!!! All you could hear was loud knocking on the door and banging on the windows. That scared me very much as I've not had that experience before. The door opened and the boys stopped screaming as in walked the towering figure of St Nick and his three black helpers, Piet, Piet and... Piet. What next happened was an experience I will treasure forever. It was very different from anything I have ever experienced before. St Nick talked to us all and to me in English. A little later he left and we then received many gifts with funny poems. What an amazing night!!
