After a wonderful night sleep on his soft bed, Bart awoke with an urge to keep warm. What would be better than to do some sweeping of the paths of mother's garden. So off he went into the garden while I, Dawn, slept until midday. The sun was nowhere to be seen and rainy drizzle came and went but Bart made good progress while mother Dieneke shouted instructions through the kitchen window. Soon after it was time to go and meet mother's friends Lex and Emmy who'd happen to have a forgetful son so Bart quickly capitalised by borrowing his winter coat and he was no longer cold. Lex lives close to a windmill and has a great collection of rocks. We had to leave as St Nicolas needed assistance so Bart, Dawn and Oma got some gifts at the shops. Bart discovered his credit card chip does not work in Dutch shops. This greatly distressed him but Oma had a great solution. Use the ATM stupid! Later that evening Oma treated us to the best Indonesian riisttafel we have had in years. Back home it was time to rhyme as tomorrow is the highlight of the year for children with the delightful evening of St Nick and black Peter. it may turn out to be a late night after which it is back to our soft beds.
