I've made camp at this very attractive watering hole here in Sedona Arizona,. A few days of rest and recreation away from the planning and effort of flying.
I've rented a car and have been exploring the local attractions of this visually stunning place.
Due to popular demand by a few followers of these notes, I have enclosed more photo's for your perusal.
The weather here has been constant sunshine and in the mid to high 20's since I arrived on Sunday afternoon.
There is a strong influence of Mexican food here which suits my pallet just fine.
Although this place suffers slightly from the accusation of being a "resort",  it does have just about everything a tourist needs. From car rental, bus and off road excursions, to helicopter flights and multiple shopping outlets. Thankfully it has been developed in a generally sympathetic way. There are no buildings higher than two stories, and the colour of the building's  blend in with the natural reddish hues of the mountains. There are also strict laws on light pollution, which allows clear sites of the night sky.
I'm also pleased to report there is no evidence of rowdyism or drunkenness, and the place goes fairly quiet after 9o'clock.
I returned to the airfield today to fill up the aircraft for the next leg in a few days. Avgas costs about half of of what you would expect in Europe, and with no landing fee and a modest $5 a day parking, this is not going to break the bank.
Tomorrow I intend to make full use of the rental car and will be off exploring for the day.
It is now some eight hours difference to the UK, and there may be some delay in submitting these reports or responding to your comments.

Hi Dave The photos look great & your making us all green with envy,by the way Christmas is only 11 weeks away will you be back in time?

I read with fascination and envy your reports, I’m sure this trip must be a bit harder than you portray! How goes it with USA air traffic controllers? It took Nigel and I quite a while to get used to the fast patter when in Florida. Safe trip and look forward to more brill photos.

Alan. The air traffiic has some subtle differences. But I just talk slowly and clearlly, and more importantly, put on your best English accent. They'll get the message !

I love all the pictures...keep them going! I've passed you 'Spot' site and your blog site to some pilot freinds and want-a-be flyers. We're all watching.

Thank you Norm. I'm pleased I may be of some inspiration, or at least some temporary entertainment. I plan to follow with more stories and photo's, as long as there's an interest.
