Arrived in Ithaca, NY State USA late Thursday afternoon.  A relevantly short leg (compared to earlier), 350 miles took 2hrs 30mins in another headwind! Perfect weather all the way. I never saw another aircraft until I landed.
The American system of "Flight Following" is a huge advantage. I was given traffic separation (not much there though) restricted areas, any bad weather, and it seems everything else that may be use full. Compared to the UK, it is a significant advantage. No flight plan was required and I routed direct to the destination at 10,500ft without diversion. Can't do that at home.
But I suppose comparing the size of Britain, which you could put within the boundaries of the State of Texas, I do have some sympathy.
Weather permitting I plan to move further West on Saturday. The time difference is slowly changing, and I keep altering my watch back at almost every stop. Technically I suppose I,m getting younger ! It doesn't feel that way from here ( poorer ,yes ). Although strangely, last night I purchased a bottle of beer from a service station across the road from the Hotel, as they don't have a bar.  The lady asked me for my  ID !    I joked that," was it to prove I was over 21" ?   She didn't see the funny side. Ah,well.

Dave humour does not travel well across the pond, when was the last time you had to prove you were over 21 ?
Someone in Ithaca must have a sense of humour I was just looking at airfields locally and there is one named Tom n' Jerry field at Danby south of Ithaca !!!!

Take care and stay safe DB

The last time was probably over 20 years ago, perhaps a tadge more !

Some states require scanning the ID or showing it to the overhead camera for every restricted sale. The clerks don't want to do it. They have to.

That's the biggest slip-up so far Dave - booking into a hotel without a bar lol. Well done with the mammoth task up to now. We're all keeping an eye on your progress and willing you on.
