Arrived in Bangor Maine, USA, late Monday afternoon. A 700 mile direct route from Goose Bay Canada, took almost five hours in a headwind.
Had some documentation "issues" which took a bit of time to sort out. It seems the advice I was given from the US embassy in London was incorrect ! However, after some discussion, finger printing and a photo-shoot, I was allowed entry. Phew,, I thought I mind up in that resort "Guantanamo Bay"!
I.ll report more when I explore some.

You can just imagine the issues with the bureaucrats:
"OK buddy, your paperwork's not in order. We need to fill in this form. Name?"
"David Bowie."
"Look bud, you're in enough trouble already, without trying to be funny!"

Dave, Fantastic to see you made it to USA and what a way to cross the Atlantic, beats the usual boring AA economy. It would have been nice if those F18s had throttled back and escorted you out of Canada.
Enjoying your blog immensely. Where is your next destination?

Dave glad to see you arrive in the US ok, I think the bureaucracy is a useful experience sometimes for what may come later, just be happy they speak a type of english.
Don't forget to try one of "Johnny Rockets" big burgers in Bangor, .............second thought give that a miss you will never get off the ground for the next leg.

Take Care and stay safe DB

No problem; I'll catch you the next time you go around! I'm watching your progress a couple of time a day. Ask Richard Hollingsworth for my e-mail address when you get back.
