One reason for coming over East was to go to the perhentian islands but when we looked in to it further we couldn't quite afford the transport and accommodation so instead decided to treat ourselves to a couple of nights in a plush resort and we booked two nights at the Holiday Villa. Unfortunately the website photographs do not reflect the shabbiness and cleanliness of the resort so we were a little disappointed. Not only that but the location was awful - on a main road with unscheduled buses only, or taxi's that cost a fortune to go anywhere. Thankfully we didn't pay a huge amount and it did have some good points - the pool and the beach for instance, and it's difficult to be too down heartened when you're travelling, so the initial disappointment didn't last too long!

The journey there was also fun. The coach was of a pretty good standard but the driver played some awful music very loudly for most of the journey, and then he dropped us off no where near the hotel, despite assuring us that it was, so we were stuck on a main road in the blistering sun with very little idea about where we were and where the hotel was. Luckily - very luckily - we spotted some activity near by which turned out to be a tourism fair - i'm not quite sure where it was there? - but we asked around for directions to the hotel and one girl arranged for her friend to take us there - 6km away.

So we were pretty glad to leave the Holiday Villa and get back to normality and go somewhere interesting again.
