There is a positive side to travelling halfway around the world. You don't need to change your watch :) FYI don't start bowing at flight attendants on JAL you'll hold up the line getting off the plane. Taxi driver at airport couldn't understand why I didn't want to go to a brothel rather than my hotel. Culture shock !!. Off to the Grand Palce and Wat Pho on the Skytrain and ferry -will post pics later.
Well managed to negotiate the Skytrain ( designed by Porsche ) and get on the water taxi even though the signs are in a weird script. But I couldn't get in to the palace because I was wearing shorts and I expect they didn't like my white fluorescent legs :) I went to Wat Pho and then over the river to the temple of the Dawn. I must have seen 500 Buddhas today but have to admit that it's a money maker for the Thai. Even the Royal family have very strong links with Buddhism and they are patrons of a number of shrines. I suspect it was 30 C today but very humid and I need a swim then some Thai curry and mango
