Clarence River in flood!!!

We are very glad that we made the decision last week to head for the coast.  We were in the Moree/Narrabri area a week ago, and when we heard the weather forecast, we decided that if we were to get stuck anywhere, we'd rather it be at Iluka with friends around us than out west.  That has proved to be a good decision, as the news reports at the moment are showing flooding and road closures where we were.

We've had a lovely week at Iluka with our friends, and tomorrow we are moving the van just up the road to a beautiful 40acre property owned by friends who are also ex-Whitsunday residents.  They would like to go to Airlie for a short holiday, so they're thinking of taking advantage of us being there so we can look after their two gorgeous puppies while they're gone.  So it looks like we'll be in the Iluka area for at least another couple of weeks.

There are a few other ex-Whitsundayites here too, and I'm hoping to catch up with them at the Brushgrove Tavern on Sunday

We had one beautiful day of sunshine on Wednesday, but the rain has returned now, and looks like it will hang around for a while.  The caravan park we are staying in is across the road from the Clarence River, and while the river level has been up quite high, the park was built specifically to keep it flood-free, with a levee at the front and the caravan sites built up, so we feel very safe here.

We both have appointments to see our Rheumatologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in BrisVegas on 12th March, and we start our next house-sit at Caboolture, north of Brisbane on 22nd March, so we hope to catch up with a few friends around Bris and the Coasts then.
