We took a flight out of Maracaibo to Caracas. The flight was an hour late which meant our two hours getting to the airport became awfully long. Once in Caracas (and after waiting about 45 minutes for our luggage) we headed to the International Terminal for our flight to Brazil.
Luckily we went straight to the check in desk as there was already a line (4.5 hours before departure) of around 50 people! We ended up just jumping in the line and waiting 30 minutes until check in opened (and a further 1.5 hours after that) before finally getting checked in.
Funny thing is we were told that you had to pay a departure tax of 138 pesos each at the airport, which we were also told could only be paid in cash. We later found out this was not the case, becoming a pain because foreign exchange will not accept Venezuela pesos. So with 10 minutes until boarding I was running around the duty free shop like a headless trying to spend leftover pesos!
Not so fun Caracas fact: the duty free shop does not stock Clinique... Seriously???
