La Fortuna is famous for its close proximity to Volcano Arenal an active Volcano that reportedly spews lava (although this has not happened for around 10 months). It wad a quick trip to La Fortuna arriving at around 1pm and leaving at 6am the following day.

We managed to have enough time to take a tour of the volcano and hit up some of the towns famous Hot Springs. During the volcano tour we took a walk through spa jungle type area and heard stories about the various plants from our guide. Then we took a small hike to a viewing area where we were able to see nothing but cloud... Unfortunately the volcano was pretty well completely covered by cloud but all in all it was still a pretty cool tour. After the walk we were dropped at Baldi Hot Springs. This place was massive with 10 pools and three water slides. It was more like a theme park than Hot Springs.

Next stop the Caribbean!
