Where I stayed
So now it is our last day here and we are ALL exhausted and a little tired from the skiing. We had actually planned to take the "Glacier express" It is a train from Zermatt to St. Moritz and it takes 7 hours through the main glaciers on the mountains of southern Switzerland. It was unfortunately booked so we decided last night to go strolling through the village and buy souveniers. I had seen a beautiful sweatshirt in a shop window and had my heart set on buying it.
Meanwhile, Mom was looking for a hat for her husband and my brother wanted a nice watch for his wife.
We made it through the center, and to the "Matterhorn" museum. about halfway through the village. It was quite interesting and set up with little "sets" to show how the village looked in years gone by. And, yes, it was a bit like Disneyland. In the gift shop, I found a page of 1965 "Matterhorn stamps" which I bought for 20 francs for my stamp collection.
We stopped in Chocolate shops and ski shops and enjoyed our day.
The village itself is "carfree" and you can see horse drawn cabs driving people around mostly to the various ski lodges, It was quite cold and very full of both skiers and tourists alike.
After about 4 hours, it began to snow, so we went back to our hotel to pack up for our early departure in the morning.
I sang while my brother played his guitar which passed the time during my packing.
