So it was my last day in Salzburg, one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen.  I had decided to sleep late as I had no tour.  I checked out of my hotel and went into the center where I walked street by street through the town just soaking it in.  Salzburg is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.  A Little jewel stuck in time.  Magical to me.

Between the hotel service, the wonderful tours and the absolutely stunning scenery, I just can't get enough.

There was only one thing left I hadn't done that left me with a burning desire.  To see the famous marionette museum.  Actually, I have always had a fascination of Marrionette (or any) puppets.  These puppets are world famous and not only have their own home in lovely Salzburg, but they have a travelling show as well.  The puppeteers are trained for years as an art form.  When I went to the fortress on the first day, the puppet museum was closed so I went back.  It is located high up on the hill beneath the huge and imposing fortress.  Basically in one of the dungeons of the castle like structure. I climbed by foot up the steep and snow covered path stopping to admire the views.  Catching my breath was hard with the breath taking views!! ha ha.

After visiting the marionettes, which were displayed fantastically in little stages and lit beautifully,  I very slowly made my way back, eating of the apple strudels and drinking the guilwein and taking in as much of the beauty as could as I walked.

When I got back to my hotel to retrieve my bag, I said goodbye to my new friends at the staff of the hotel.  I checked the internet one more time and got on the bus to the train station.

The train station is under renovation and was therefore easy to navigate.  I got to my platform and waited for only about 1/2 hour. I had no idea when I made the reservation that it was first class.  I thought I had made a mistake when i got on the train to my very comfortable seat.  The man in the seat in front of me (and the only other guy in this section) gave me some information about ordering food or drinks but then I just relaxed for the 2 hour journey.

The man in front seemed irritated when we arrived but i was quite content.

Here I was in my 3rd destination for this trek,  Vienna where i checked into my hotel for the night.
