So I woke up this morning all exited to get to Munich this afternoon. I had been hearing a lot about snow and bad weather so i decided randomly to check the airports and guess what? There was no flight matching mine. Before getting worked up into a panic, I decided to call the airline and see what's going on. As it turns out these flights had been changed a few months ago but somehow the communications were lost. The clerk at the other end of the phone was very kind but was unable to accomodate my need to get to munich tonight.
I started to get a bit upset but then I thought I might be able to get something by train. I went out to the main train station where I could actually talk to a person and figure it all out. It turns out that I could get an overnight train for only 119 euros and still save tomorrow for sightseeing etc. So I booked a train for an overnight ride. Now I will arrive in Munich at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow.
Had I taken airberlin, I would go from Rome to Vienna at 8:00 am then to Berlin and finally on to Munich arriving at around 7:00 p.m.
My plan gets me there only 12 hours behind schedule. Not too bad considering so many flights have been cancelled due to weather lately.
More later...
