After our days wallowing about in Bon Jovi we decided to do some real travelling and headed off for QENP for a bit of safari action. Didn't really have to go far as we spotted an elephant on the driveway to the lodge. The camp was in a great location overlooking the Kazinga channel, which is crammed full of hippo's, crocs and birds. Our camp was next to a small inlet so we spent our mornings and evenings sitting and watching to see which animals would come out for a drink. We spotted warthogs, monitor lizards and buffalo, we heard elephants but they must have gone elsewhere for a drink.

The second day we went on a boat trip down the Kazinga Channel where we were surrounded by hippos, birds and on the shore there were hundreds of buffalo, loads of elephants and a few crocs. The birdlife was also superb. On the way back we went back on a different road, spotting waterbuck and warthogs when we were confronted by a huge bull elephant on the road. At first this was exciting, getting so close to this huge beast, but then he started flapping his ears, shaking his head and letting us know to get out of his way. This was when our driver 'Vincent' slammed the car in reverse and headed back down the one-car road. Eventually he got bored and headed off to the bush, leaving us to carry on. Got a great video but it would take a year or so to upload here.
