After a cool flight through a rain storm on a teeny tiny plane leaving Big Corn Island, we arrived in the beautiful capital city of Managua. After hiding in the airport for lunch for an hour, we had a go at bargaining a taxi for ourselves to the mini bus area of the city. 30mins later we jumped in a semi-legit cabby's rig and started off. 50m later, we were stopped by airport police. No Problems.. it turned out the policeman just wanted a ride home, so he invited himself in for the ride. All was well and we caught a ride on a minibus to our destination, San Juan Del Sur, with a one night stop over in Granada.

Granada was a very pretty and bustling old city with tons of locals offering horse carriage rides and little street kids selling various things... We purchased a twirly leafy thing from a local kid who made them from scratch right in front of us. We proceeded to pay that little man his money(30cents) and put it on top of our heads while walking down the main bar street. At our next stop we opened the menus and found a whole page on how buying items from street kids is actually frowned upon, it encourages them to stay out on the streets, sniffing glue, and skipping school....(we promptly removed said twirly things from our heads)...We left early the next morning, our work there was done.

When in San Juan, the main attraction is surfing. The problem is that the surfing in San Juan takes place 20mins or so drive away at surrounding beaches, the main beach doesn't get the waves, is full of fish boats, and is polluted apparently. So we jumped in with the local surfing bros jeeps and headed over to a beach where the waves were good, to catch some tasty waves. First day we went for the body boarding option to ease ourselves into it. Caught lots of  great waves, had a great time.Next day the waves were very big. We both went for the surfboard option. Caught 1 possibly two waves, got smashed trying, drank a couple litres of salt water.

Found a bar playing Canucks games... caught a couple, a win and a loss. All for naught now though!

We then realized we had to be in Panama city(long way) in 5 days... so it was time to get going... 18 hours to San Jose, Costa Rica!
