Friends and Fam...

Well, its been a whirlwind three days... so much so, that we've both decided that traveling isn't the best option for us at the moment . We gave it our best shot, but just dont have it in us to turn our backs on Vancouver... So see ya in two days, we're comin home!!!!!....

Not. (April - rhymes with tools)

So we are fully on our way now.. sort of. We were supposed to be on an island in Belize by now... but who follows plans anyways!?
Arrived in Cancun Monday without much fuss, checked in to our concrete coffin of a hotel room, strolled around a bit, ate a bit, drank a bit, then called it a night in lieu of jetlag/no-sleep packing the night before/hangover from the hangover from our going away party.
Alll in all, not really digging the vibe in ol' Cancun, so we decided to catch the 6 hour bus ride to the Mexican border with Belize... errrrr.... cancel that.  One hour bus ride to Playa Del Carmen sounded so much nicer, so, Playa it was!
Turns out its Semana Santa this week, so that = expensive rooms + huge parties. 1 out of two ain't bad i guess?  All in all though, Playa is a pretty sweet place, beautiful beaches, tons of nice restaurants and bars, and great weather. Aside from the constant badgering from the locals to buy things, i'd show my face here again.
*funny story* Actually, to get away from the badgering, we tried to do the ol' sneaky sneaky into the all inclusive resort pool, thinking they would never question the extremely white, middle class? looking Americans... they did. it was embarrassing, fools. Dave was asked who he was visiting...to cover himself he gave the name that resembled "Cornato"....no luck with that from the reception, so the girl asked Dave the name a second time. Dave had totally forgot the initial name he had gave(not exactly Chad Turner), and proceeded to give the name "hernandas", spelling letter for letter. The receptionist, very confused and very on to us, asked if the first name was "lise"?, Dave responded with... "no no, Lisa...we must have the wrong place" as he shrunk out the front door, followed by Lauren laughing behind.

Bus to Belize in the morning, Caye Caulker by afternoon, swinging in a hammock by dusk.

tbc... Lauren and Dave
