We woke up early to pack the final few things and head down to Paulette's restaurant for our home cooked southern style breakfast. The food at the River Inn has been spectacular as has the service and the hotel, we will miss it. If we ever come back to Memphis we will definitely stay at the River Inn. Memphis, although the home of Graceland and the Mississippi, really doesn't hold much more appeal. It was a lot bigger than we expected!

After breakfast we grabbed our bags, called a taxi (taxi fares in Memphis are ridiculous) and headed to the Greyhound bus station for our bus trip back to Nashville (about 4 hours). We got a much better bus this time than our trip to Memphis but man the bus driver, she was a bit wild!

From the bus station we caught a very short taxi ride to Enterprise car rentals (didn't realise it was so close and taxi driver was shitty it was only a short fare). As we hadn't ordered anything online there wasn't any small cars to choose from so we have to go with a 4 wheel drive GMC. Gorgeous car but a little more expensive than what we wanted to spend - oh well we haven't had to hire a car the whole time so why not!

The interstate road system in America is good but makes the trip a little boring as there isn't much to see but having said that I really didn't take my eyes off the road as man it was busy and being Dave's first time driving in a left hand drive car made it a little stressful - I admit it was stressful but Dave won't!

We had to be at the reception for checkin to our cabin at 6 and we kept getting every red light possible but we got there at 6.05 and luckily someone was still there!  What we didn't realise at first when we headed out of Nashville in the car, is that Pigeon Forge is an hour ahead of Nashville so what we thought would be heaps of time to get to the cabin all of a sudden become a tight time frame.  Check in was easy and painless.  We were given a map on where to locate our cabin, the combination for the key pad to enter the cabin and some information on the local attractions.

Making our way up the winding very steep road to our cabin, we were blown away when we pulled into the drive and saw our cabin.  Its size and position was breathtaking. What was even more breathtaking was when we walked inside and saw 3 levels of complete luxury with magnificent views on each level.

We couldn't think of a more special place to celebrate our 19th wedding anniversary even if a little early (anniversary is 8th October but if you ask Dave it's the 10th)!

As we arrived late, we didn't have time to do any grocery shopping, so after getting our luggage inside and taking in the cabin and the magnificent views, we headed out in the car again to find something for dinner and to take a bit of a look at Pigeon Forge.  The sun sets very late so we still had a bit of daylight.  We located a grocery store to come to the next day to stock up on supplies and then we found a take away place that had a lot of customers so we thought it must be alright.  It was just like a KFC and we ordered a chicken 2 piece pack with gravy.  Well we thought we would get chips with it but we got mashed potato that didn't taste very nice and the gravy was very salty white sauce with pieces of meat patty in it and you also get a biscuit which is really just a salty scone but it was something to eat as we hadn't had anything to eat since breakfast.
