We decided to catch the bus and then the train to Perth city itself. The trains are great and take you straight into a station called Perth Underground. We booked a Captain Cook Cruise (yes, another cruise) down the iconic Swan River and all the way to Fremantle. The cruise was well done according to Emmy with complimentary tea and coffee and air conditioning all the way. The Swan is such a pretty river and a hive of activity. One thing that really surprised us was the amount of wealth on display both in and around the water. The houses (mansions) are unbelievable and the boats simply jaw dropping in terms of size, number and features. Fremantle is a very historic destination with magnificent old buildings and structures to see that are manned in many spots by enthusiastic volunteers. WA was initially only settled by "colonials" not convicts but eventually convicts came and were responsible for much of the historic buildings in the area.
For symbolic reasons we had a serve of grilled fish and chips from WA's number one shop according to the sign. They were ok. However, we soon discovered that all the fish and chipp shops had similar proclamations of status and excellence!
We returned on our boat the James Stirling and made it back to the caravan park just in time for a swim. The Karrinyup Caravan Park is the best one we have been in for a number of reasons. The showers include a toilet as well, we have a large slab for the car and caravan, it is in a great suburb and all the facilities work. The heated pool is large with different levels and has a massive spa attached to it. The Dimenties love it.
