We only stayed in Gatlinburg for one full day, which we spent on a couple of driving tours of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. We went past original homesteads, farmlands and Native American reservations, as well as a whole ton of amazing sights like waterfalls etc. Unfortunately unless you go hiking here you can't really do the place justice. After almost a full day of exploring, involving a few small hikes, we ended back in Gatlinburg for the evening. Not much to say about the place - parts are really pretty, with log cabins and forests, the main street however is pure tourist tack and is best avoided, unless you enjoy overpriced restaurants, tacky redneck stores and "attractions" like Ripley's...
