Luang Prabang is a lifetime away from Vang Vieng.  LP has somehow held onto it's French colonial atmosphere, with beautiful brick houses sorrounded by lush gardens, all on the high banks of the mighty Mekong River.  It's more of a place of reflection than arsing around.  The main attraction here is the numerous temples that young boys go to to become Monks, or at the very least, spend part of their teen years doing. 

When I rolled up in mid March, the whole area was thick with smoke from the slash & burn style farming going on in the hills.  So the photos are somewhat clouded out.
