I awoke early, with just one Mozzie bite.  That impressed me tons, considering people indoors get more than that.  I spent the morning around the poolside, and watching the guys surf down below. Uluwatu is commonly thought of as the best break in Bali, so it was weird watching it on a very flat day.  Even then, it was bigger than Kuta Beach ever gets!  It was so hot around the pool that I literally sweated off my suncream, getting a bit burnt in the process.  Less than a day on holiday and already I'm proving my English roots.  All I need now is to go buy a tabloid and eat Chips and Beans.

In the afternoon I persuade the guys to take me up to Pura Tanah Lot Temple, north of Kuta.  Whilst in Kuta our Air Con breaks, and without that driving is really difficult - the sweat in your eyes really hurts.  So we drop the car off at the hire place, down some tiny gang in central Kuta, causing a jam behind us.  Whilst this is going on, I pop across the road to a warrung and get me some Nasi Goreng, complete with whole fried egg on top.  Add to that a huge Milk Shake, and you have one very, very content Darren.

At this stage my sister feigns illness so they go back to Uluwatu, whilst I finally see my hotel room and then promptly head to the beach and into Kuta again.  I force myself to not be boring so I stop off at a few bars on my route, catch a bit of sport, shoot the shit with a few Aussies, who yet again turn out to be the nicest people in the world. I head for the beach at sunset, and promptly impressed make my way back to the hotel, hoping to bump into a friendly bunch of backpackers who will take me someplace.  Sadly that doesn't happen, so a little worse for wear, I head back to my hotel on the back on a Scooter.  Everyone in Bali offers you transport (whilst pretending to steer a wheel so you will realise what they mean) so for a few pence I get a very fun thrill and saved my poor feet any more pain.  Sorry feet. I end the night losing a battle with the hordes of Ants in my room.  They had a numbers advantage though.
