We left Niagara Falls bright and early this morning and headed for the finger lakes region in NY state. Of course we had to stop off at an outlet mall just outside of Niagara as the girls were suffering from withdrawal symptoms from no shopping for 2 days. The shops in Niagara just sold the usual tourist tat and didn't provide them with the fix they need! We arrived at the mall at 10am just as it opened and the only others there were a bunch of elderly people in their sneakers and track suits walking the mall like a scene out of "Dawn of the dead"! The girls managed to get a few bargains before we hit the highway again. The US border control was quick and easy and they didn't seem bothered by the 1.5kg of rock we had with us!

Finally we arrived in Corning at the Glass factory and museum and we wanted to try to make some glass souvenirs as it's not something you get to do very often. Tina made a glass pumpkin, Emmy made a glass bead and I made a glass hanging decoration. We had to blow the glass into shape and choose the colours for each piece. It was a fun experience and we will not see the finished item until tomorrow as it takes that long to cool down. Afterwards we looked around the worlds largest glass museum / galleries and saw some amazing pieces of art. We didn't get a chance to see everything so hopefully we can see the rest when we return tomorrow. It was then time to travel to Ithaca where we were staying for the next two nights.

It was around 6pm when we arrived at our hotel and we were pretty hungry as we didn't get any lunch. So we found a great restaurant around the corner called the Boat yard diner. As we arrived the car park was full with a coach parked up, so we thought it was going to be a long wait for a table. Fortunately we got straight in! But we discovered the Coach was for some Japanese tourists - they must have followed us from Niagara!! Anyway Emmy had Chicken pasta, but Tina and I had Lobster and Scallops which were superb! We even had room for dessert! We're looking forward to picking up our glass pieces and visiting Watkins Glen!!

What...! Are you trying to tell us that Tina failed to achieve 'retail therapy saturation point'? I don't believe it..!

It's reassuring to note that food features heavily once again as we inch towards the various MvF challenges. Looking forward to seeing the glass creations in tomorrow's update

mmm.... Those pumpkins look good enough to eat. Now that would be a challenge.

How's the MvF prep. going Sid? Any nerves?

That Glass Blowing looks great. Where is it?
