We took a 3 hour bus ride from Bangkok to a city called Lopburi. It is no different than any other city in Thailand other than one thing. Monkeys! They are all over the older part of the city swinging from Lamposts, telephone wires, shop fronts and anything else they can get their hands on. There are hundreds of them and they are what pulls the tourists to this part of the world. The locals don't really like them but as they bring in the extra wealth, the monkeys are allowed to live in harmony alongside humans. It was just so weird seeing these creatures cause havoc on the place.
It really does have to be seen to be believed but hopefully the pictures do it justice. We took enough of them.
A dog tried to chase one, then the monkey turned on it and grabbed the dogs lead. It was so funny. They try to steal everything so the shop keepers have catapults and fire flour bombs at them to keep them at bay.
That night we decided to be daring and eat out in a very 'local' café. With us not speaking Thai and they not speaking English we had to write what we wanted down in Thai writing, which is basically squiggles for letters. This was harder to do than what it sounds so even Darren stuck to just egg fried rice, just to be on the safe side!
