Where I stayed
We drove about an hour from Newcastle to an area called Hunter Valley. This is a major wine making area in Australia and there are vineyards everywhere. Why would we want to go and look at vineyards you may ask?? Well because of the free wine! All vineyards have cellar doors were they invite you in to sample as much wine as you like. There is no obligation to buy, we didn't but Niki certainly took advantage of their hospitality. We went to about 5 vineyards and sampled quite a few in each. Darren got samples but could only barely taste it as he was driving and then he passed it on to Niki. As you can imagine Niki was rather merry once we had finished.
After that we decided we would head further south about 150Km to Palm Beach just north of Sydney to see Summer Bay, the setting of the soap 'Home and Away'. Niki slept some of the way sleeping off the effects of Hunter Valley.
There wasn't much to look at other than the main beach as most of the the show is filmed all over Sydney. We did manage to see the Surf club owned by Alf Stewart. Pics attached.
We then stayed in a Big4 campsite not far away for the night.
