After leaving Brisbane it was time to head down the Gold Coast to the skyscraper beach of Surfers Paradise.  I've seen so many pictures of this place, it literally has skyscrapers that are on the beach, the development here is crazy, they have built a large town on the coast around banks and rivers leading to the sea and it is beautiful. The houses have gardens that go right down to the beach and everyone seems to own a boat or drive a big pickup truck, that’s one thing we’ve noticed about Australians, they seem to be able to afford a boat and truck and live in a massive house for the average Joe Bloggs, the minimum wage is about $20 an hour so I’m not surprised.

Surfers wasn’t for me as it was very Magaluf if you catch my drift with all the holiday homes and definitely no sense of community, its more of a rich Australian place.

Still it didn’t put me off at giving surfing a go!

Lets just say that surfing will always be a potential lifestyle choice in the future rather than a sport lol but I did manage to stand up on the board and we were in the water for a long time, not so much when the instructor told us that there were Bull Sharks about 200 metres further out that go for dinner.

Still there isn’t a lot to do in this town unless you can surf, so its back on the Greyhound to the next destination, beautiful Bryon Bay.
