After a two hour delay in Halifax we just made our connection to Houston through Newark ( the plane was boarding as we got to the gate). One of the many joys of airport travel especially in the winter!
All of our flights were far from full so I am wondering why this is so.
Stayed overnight in Houston and had a great flight directly down to Liberia,Costa Rica. We were quickly out over the Gulf of Mexico and hit land directly over Progreso where we stayed last winter. We could easily see the long pier and the beaches...it made us a little homesick!
We flew over the Yucatan peninsula, down over the shores of Belize and Honduras then across into Costa Rica. Again with such a clear view the waters off that coast were beautiful colors along the Barrier Reef. I was looking for the Blue Hole but missed it.
Liberia International Airport is fairly new and as a result has opened up tourism big time in this part of Costa Rica. Customs and Immigrations was pain free and we were on our way in no time...that was after Don had made his obligatory stop at Duty Free. But then a litre of rum for 9 dollars was too good of a bargain to pass up!
Since we rebooked this trip rather quickly our original accomodation was booked up so we are staying in Cabinas Coco Azul, at 30 bucks a night. As the young man said when we walked up to place, "This is a very simple room." Trip Advisor said they had hot water...not so but a cold shower is so refreshing!!
We are here for three days before Anne Marie and Mike come so we are scoping out the place and getting acclimatized to the heat.It is hot here, very hot with humidity even though we are on the ocean. But then that is one of the reasons we came to Costa Rica.

It's said every good thing has a few bumps along the way! We don't have much of anything in GFW today except a couple of centimeters of the white stuff ... the east coast has a lot of it though and everything is shut down. Your 'simple' accommodations look okay to me ... has a tv sure. :-) Even though the humidity doesn't turn me on I could do with a bit of heat right now. But we gotta wait a couple of months. Suss out the hot spots in time for Anne Marie's arrival. You've got a couple of days! Enjoy!
Glad you are in warm place! Enjoy and don't forget to practice your Spanish :)
Yes I am practicing my Spanish and more determined than ever that the next time I spend a few months in a Spanish speaking country I am taking language lessons.
Glad to be out of the cold and we are checking out the hot spots for sure. Happy Hours are really popular here as well as food specials at different places. The seafood is awesome!
IT ALL LOOKS GREAT TO ME ENJOY
