These days, when a movie star accepts an award and drones on at the mic the orchestra blares up and drives them from the stage. And while I'm hardly going to win an award for my work, I at least have a forum that allows me to drone on as long as I want; to wit, my list of thank-yous:

Friends...

Thanks to Robert and Claire, for putting me up and putting up with my indiscretions, (whether or not they'll ever talk to me again)...To Montse and Amy (and little Eva) and Karen P, for making me feel like I'm not that far away...To Karen S, my editor, for inspiring and being inspired...To the old high-school/university crew, for showing me what I'm missing and slightly envying me while I envied them, and to Myles and Brandy, for knowing Asia and making me feel like I wasn't talking out of my ass the whole time...To Dave and the Grids for adding to my soundtrack. You deserve to be huge...To George, for great food, conversation, and constructive criticism...To Jessica, my not so "strange" friend. I love you girl...To Alison, for showing me what success looks like...To Emily, for driving me crazy...To Mark and Nigel, for putting up with my drunken banter, and helping me prove my M.O...To Andrew, Jen and the whole Beer crew, for showing us all a good time...To Amanda, for a springtime getaway in Montreal, and being eternal...To my laptop, MP3 player and other assorted possessions, for improving my quality of life and proving I could never be a Buddhist...And lastly, to Niki, for going places. You deserve it, and I hope I get to crash at your new place in Amsterdam one day.

The Fam...

Thanks to Aunt Caroline, for her understated generosity and welcoming...To cousin Marianne, her man Dave, and their amazing kids, Jakob and Sierra, for showing me what I'm missing out on. God, even their dog is brilliant...To Nanny, for hot and tasty soup and not minding that I was late and hung-over... To Ken and Kim, Kyle and Kurt, for being the best, most down-to-earth and supportive relatives a nomad like me could ever want...To the Harveys, for always making me feel like I have a second home, a place of love and refuge...To Colly and Carole and Jean, the extended, well-loved and appreciated family... And lastly, the biggest and most appreciative thanks goes to my mom, Marianne, for being my friend, advisor and mentor, the epitome of goodness, and much more than can be fit into words.
