When we arrived in Venice, we were really surprised to find that it was just an ordinary City. We were expecting to get off the train to see the famous canals, but they just weren't there. As it turned out, our ticket had told us to get off a stop early.

We found another train, jumped on, and ten minutes later, walked out of the new station and across the canals. Venice is one of the few places (as is New York, I'm told) that when you're there, you know that you couldn't be anywhere else. It's stunningly beautiful too, much more so than I'd expected... the only problem was that, gondola's aside, there really isn't anything to do there! We didn't go on the gondola's either - at 60 Euro or so a ride, we thought that they were best saved for a more romantic occasion!

We also caught up with Huy there, who we'd met in Barcelona. He tried to show us around, but the streets are so twisty that it's almost impossible not to get lost!

Some other facts about Venice:
Everything is extremely expensive
Most restaurant's charge you a cover to eat there
You can still get good pizza and gelati quite cheaply
Drinking wine on the canals is fun!
