To Los Angeles we came with a very nice girl which we met in Couchsurfing – Julie. She went to LA to watch a baseball game and offered to bring us there absolutely for free.
Our first night we stayed in the hostel near Hollywood and Korea town. It was a very wired place. A Chinese man restructured his house into a hostel and put as many people there as possible. He had tents in the garden and some people were sleeping even in the garage. We arrived early, so we were lucky to have a normal bed and were quite happy about it!
We went to Hollywood and saw: Hollywood sing and Walk of Fame. Went to Universal Studios, City walk and Downtown.
Next day we went to the Venice beach, which was great. It looks a lot like Camden Town in London or Village in NYC. Afterwards we walked to Santa Monica beach which was a bit boring and we didn't see any of "famous" body builders.
Next night we stayed with a Couchsurfing friend – Jamie (from Salvador). He also had some other Couchsurfer arriving the same day – Isabella from Colombia. All together we went to Griffith Observatory, Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive.
Our last day we spent in the Long beach which was chilled and relaxing.
Overall, we were not really impressed by LA. This city looks very spread out, has a lot of strange people and doesn’t look tourist friendly at all! LA is ok, but not really very nice or pretty. You have to visit it once in your life but that’s it. There is nothing glamorous or super great about this city as many people may think. It’s just a city with loads of people and its pros and cons………However our new Couchsurfing was great, we enjoyed meeting new friends and it made our stay in LA very pleasant!
