We turned the clocks back last night - in theory anyway. We are on our own time! What it means for us cruising is earlier starts because it will now be getting dark about 5pm and we have some southing to make now that we are able to be south of Cape Hattaras according to our insurance policy - they assume the hurricane season is now over. We were off before 8am and waited for a few other boats to assemble before we requested an opening of the Alligator River swing bridge. While we were waiting a power boat went blasting past causing a dangerous wake and a few expletives to be uttered by us. We were most amused when he was made to wait for the slowpoke sailboats before the bridge was opened! We contiued to motor down the river and entered the Alligator River Pungo River Canal which is dead straight and 22 miles long and exits into the Pungo River. We passed the ICW 100 mile marker on the way. It was a very pretty run with deep water and relatively fewer snags and deadheads to avoid compared to the Dismal Swamp.
Our anchorage was to be past Belhaven in Pungo Creek. The cruising guide mentioned that there were many crab pots but we found it to be a lovely location with a few pots in the shallows and we shared it with 2 power boats and two sailboats. The sunset was lovely but it had been a cooler day.

Your map shows a quick jaunt across the South Atlantic. Glad to hear you're progressing well. Looking forward to seeing some photos.
We're sitting here watching the election returns. The baby is kicking April mercilessly.
