I headed into Krakow today to catch up with my old friends from my exchange program at Jagiellonian University. It's amazing how contagious Krakow is. An significant number of the international students that I studied with basically liked it so much that they never returned home from Krakow. Robert, who use to throw parties every few weeks when I was studying there is still there (5 years later) and still throws parties every week or two. Fortunately he threw one tonight, which turned out consist mostly of people who had studied in the same program I had, but at different times. It's like everyone looked older, but hadn't matured yet. FANTASTIC!!
Krakow hasn't seemed to have changed that much either, except for the construction of the new main train station (which drags on 5 years later still...), though it is packed with tourists. I think I heard more English at 5am (coming from drunk Brits) on the streets of Krakow than Polish. Most of the clubs still play the same trashy western music, though sometime around 5am Brathanki & Kayah (2 polish bands) came on the sound system and the club came alive with energy (which was well needed to find my way back to catch my 6:15am train)! Oh I wish I was a student back in Krakow again!
