Rented a really nice car (peugeot 205 which means nothing if you are not into cars like me) so C. was happy as we did about 600km. Had a great time, we flew into Malaga late and had to stay overnight in 'Hotel Las Vegas' (why its called that I dunno)in city centre as Malaga "don't do airport hotels", then back to airport next morn where it's not to easy to get to the car rental desk if you haven't just stepped off a plane, weird, not like perfect Dublin! Anyway an hour later we hit the road with our convertible & we then drove into the mountains (scenery beautiful & of course he was flying round corners so I was bit white knuckles) and that night stayed in a Parador in Ronda (if you don't know Paradores are state run luxury hotels built on a the side of a cliff or in a converted monastery etc. really gorgeous, with excellent food incl. unusually 5 course vege lunch) then drove through more mountains via Grazalema to a town called Arcos de la Frontera & stayed in its Parador too where Charles de Gaulle wrote part of his memoirs alledgely, then we joined 2 couples we know from Galway days 'GnM' and 'AnN' (but live in Dublin & Seville resp.) in a beach place 30km south of Cadiz called Conil, they were staying 2 weeks and each have a toddler 19months & 27months resp. I think. The 27month old did not stop kissing me & then he started on C. once he realised if he was with me it must be safe! Very cute kids the 2 of them. But a week in children-not-related-to-you 's company was enough - in fact just right. Good selection of beaches there but we did need the car to get to the non crowded ones. And feck all vege food - so if I see another bit of manchego cheese, tortilla or olives I'll puke! Went to the local towns too called Vejer (picturesque), Le Muela, Colorado & then took a trip to Cadiz at the end, very glad as its lovely town/city. Flew back again via Malaga but took direct way back on motor/high ways & my personal rally driver did it in 2hours 9mins!
