Well, I've been back home for a few weeks now. The whole trip flew by. After my 10 hr flight from Athens to JFK I had a 7 hr delay before I caught my flight home. I was lucky though, most of the flights were cancelled because of bad storms. Dan took a MAC flight and it took him about 4 more days to get home but he finally made it. After being on the move for a whole month now everything seems so slow! I caught myself complaining about being bored one day and my mom responded, "of course you are going to be bored! Everything is going to be boring compared to what you've been doing!" So true. I just want to stress how truly blessed I am to be able to go on a trip like this and I want to thank my parents the most for making in possible. It was the trip of a lifetime. And thanks to everyone who followed the site for keeping in touch. I'm sure new stories will continue to be told because it's impossible to write or describe the experience all at once.

I won't repeat all the things Dan wrote in his reflection of the trip because I pretty much feel the same way and we discussed all those issues along the trip. I will say that I love how each European country has such a different culture, history, and character. It's amazing how a 5 hour train ride you can take you to a place which speaks its own language and has its own traditional cuisine, dress, and personality. Many Europeans we met talked about how traveling through Europe is really the same as Americans traveling to the different states. Somehow that just doesn't really seem accurate. To an extent, yes, Americans are diverse across the nation, but we share many of the defining characteristics that jump out when traveling through European countries. The most obvious of course being language. Traveling through Europe certainly keeps you on your toes. I also learned that traveling does not satisfy any type of curiosity or hunger for seeing new places...it simply sends your mind in a million different directions of all the places you want to go next! I know another trip like this isn't likely to come any time soon but hey, a girl can dream, right?
