After the heat and craziness of KL we have decided to slow down the pace a bit and are staying in a small fishing village on an island about 2 hours outside of KL. Its fantastic! The village is right on the coastline and the whole village is on stilts, so when the tide is in we are surrounded by water. Even the walkways, there are no cars on the island- just bikes, are on stilts above the water. We have seen lots of birds of prey-mainly fish eagles and also loads of crabs and mudskippers (the mudskippers are definetly my favourite-they are great!). There are great views of the mangroves on a neighbouring island from our hotel room.
As in most of Malaysia alcohol is very few and far between (apart from last night where a group of locals who were celebrating someones bday shared their whisky with us), all good for the old liver though! The food is really lovely, lots of very nice fresh fish and seafood, and very cheap. Everyone is very friendly here. There are no other tourists here at the mo, as it is off the main tourist track. This definetly adds to the charm though.
