Waking up to a good breakfast and off to see what the day holds. We stopped at the State Zoo (a walk thru the desert on a hot day!). We saw the scenery and animals we had seen on our drive, but behind bars.
Arriving at the caverns, we took an excursion walk, 1.5 miles winding down 750 feet. Walking thru was amazing. We walked for about 4 1/2 hours winding thru the rock formations. The temperature was around 56, with 90% humidity.(Great hair day!!).
Upon returning to the campground, we went swimming. We had a visitor that came running along the poolside. A tarantula was making his way straight to us. I took several pictures after getting it on a pool noodle in the middle of the water. There were 2 more just wandering down the road on our way back to our cabin.
We had decided last night not to tent camp. We had moved into a nice cabin for the night. The visit to Carlsbad has been great.
